Daughter criticises Australia cruise operator after mother dies on island
An 80-year-old woman, Suzanne Rees, died after being left behind by a Coral Expeditions cruise ship on Lizard Island on the Great Barrier Reef. Her daughter accuses the operator of negligence, stating that her mother, who was hiking on the island, was allowed to descend alone after falling ill and that the ship left without a passenger count. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority is investigating the incident. Coral Expeditions has expressed sorrow and is cooperating with authorities.
